Elm Grove Woodworks is owned and operated by Mike Padrutt. The name came from the one-room school that Mike attended as a child, Elm Grove School District 9. Using the name of the school was intended as a tribute to the teacher Mrs. Semington. Mrs. Semington was a model of excellence and perseverance. Here at Elm Grove Woodworks we follow her example, striving every day to find new and better ways to do what we do. Quality in our work is as important to us as it is to our customers.
Elm Grove Woodworks has been in operation since 1975. Since then, we have built a wide variety of projects, ranging from cabinetry and furniture to solid body electric guitars. Almost any item you can imagine has been built here in the last 42 years. If it can be built with wood we can build it.
Our most recent addition to the shop is a three-axis CNC router. With this computer-controlled machine we manufacture ash reinforcement parts for a fiberglass car manufacturer in Illinois. These cars are mainly hot rods like the ‘32 and ‘34 ford coupe. This machine has also extended our capabilities to create one of a kind wood signage, allowing us to offer signs personalized for each customer. This machine reduces our artwork and cutting time, which is reflected in a better price and faster turnaround for you.
Everything we build here is done in-house. Our only outside sources are material suppliers. This allows us to buy the best materials and build to our quality standards. From the initial drawing to the final finish, we do the entire job with pride here at Elm Grove Woodworks.
